The Pima County Attorney’s Office declined to press charges in a fatal shooting that followed an alleged beer-skip in December.
The shooter, whose name was redacted from police reports, reportedly shot Gerald Ramon, 46, on the afternoon of Dec. 6 after following Ramon from the Circle K on the corner of West Grant and North Oracle roads, where Ramon allegedly stole two cases of beer.
The shooting happened after Ramon reportedly raised a stick and advanced towards the shooter in the parking lot of a nearby Burger King, which means the shooting likely was in self-defense, said Kellie Johnson, chief criminal deputy with the Pima County Attorney's Office.
