I was struck by the two guest opinions in Sunday’s Arizona Daily Star about our community’s tragic January 8, 2011 shootings.

One, by Rep. Martha McSally and memorial foundation CEO Crystal Kasnoff, was all about honoring the victims. The other, by Patricia Maisch, a hero of that dreadful event, was about a way to prevent future such occurrences. You, like me, may agree that both activities have merit.

But, if you had to choose only one, which would it be? Is it more important where and how such a memorial should be designated or is it more important to prevent more deaths?
