Re: the June 28 article "Theater company fighting closure."

Surely I am not the only Arizona Theatre Company subscriber who was both shocked and outraged to receive an email on June 27 informing patrons that unless the theater raises $2 million by July 1, operations will cease and those of us who have already purchased our season tickets will not receive a refund.

It is absurd to think that ATC just happened to realize this week that they will be short $2 million. As a single parent, I am very conscious of my budget, and one of the things I choose to splurge on is season tickets to ATC. Now with the theater likely to close, I could be out $400, and ATC’s offer of a tax credit is no help. Shame on ATC for soliciting subscriptions and collecting money these past few months when I am sure they knew full well that there was a deficit in their budget.
