Write the Arizona Board of Regents and demand they reduce the ridiculous spending at our universities and colleges. A perfect example was on page one of the paper on May 28. The University of Arizona hired two people to replace one at a cost of $419,000, plus direct and indirect costs.
Tell them to go back to the year 2000 budget and increase it by the increase in the Pima County increase in the cost of living index. That is what the budget should be for next year, adjusted for growth. Remember growth is not linear. You will find tuition will go down an amazing amount. Then give every department head a bonus equal to the amount of money they cut in next years budget. And, like corporations, give any person who spots waste, fraud and abuse a cash reward in a percentage of the savings.
