Re: the Nov. 5 story "Tucson animal center has veternarian shortage, struggles to keep up"
I wanted to thank Patty Machelor for addressing this current issue by giving notice to the community for what is happening to Pima Animal Care Center or even other facilities for that matter. We as a community need to provide a hand to help animals to find a loving home. We need to acknowledge the obligation for a vet school in the state to become more stabilized. These devoted veterinarians are a valuable civil service and yet are under appreciated for the countless hours they’ve put in, 10 to 12 hours a day, making the process overwhelming. The cost to go to vet school is excessive taking into account out-of-state tuition.
