Ann Day, model citizen, will be missed
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Ann Day.
The first time was when she backed the last successful campaign of U.S. Rep. Jim Kolbe. The last time was when she was at the dermatologistโs office where I took my daughter. Day was as sweet and intelligent as anyone. She was knowledgeable and compassionate as anyone. She talked to my daughter about a book she was perusing.
Ann Day, above all, will be missed as a great example of what it means to be a model citizen.

Prop. 123 would be a disaster for state
Prop. 123 advertising is a perfect example of how clever charlatans can lie using the facts by not including the long-term negative consequences (eg. take money away from the trust that funds the school budget and pretty soon there wonโt be any money left to fund the budget at all).
This is a disastrous short-term Band-Aid for a long-term problem and the only ones it helps are the teachers and politicians who will be retired from the system when the bill comes due. Unconscionable.
Vote โnoโ and make the Legislature fund the schools properly.

Killing of mountain lions must end
I read with disgust the story about the latest mountain lion killing in the ongoing futile attempt to reintroduce bighorn sheep into the local mountains.
Seems as though each time a sheep is killed a mountain lion is determined to be the predator killer and promptly dispatched.
I think there are a lot more mountain lions than sheep so hopefully someone of authority who is sane will wake up and stop this incredible waste of money and killing.
The article indicated that the โpredator management systemโ is โtemporary.โ
That may be the intent but itโs sure not temporary for the dead mountain lions.

State should stop killing lions, Part II
I wish to add my name to the list of those opposing the slaughter of mountain lions in the Catalina Mountains.
I am appalled that Game and Fish can continue this practice in the face of so much opposition. Worst case โ the sheep reintroduction project is unsuccessful and both lions and sheep are gone.

What happens when all the lions are gone?
If we keep killing mountain lions to protect the bighorn sheep population, will we eventually have to create a mountain lion reintroduction program?

Keep off the football field โ maybe
Near the conclusion of Arizona Wildcats football games, the public address announcer at Arizona Stadium instructs fans to keep off
the field.
Now once again in hopes of selling football tickets, the Arizona athletics department is airing a television commercial that contains fans excitedly jumping up and down on the field.
So, which is it? Keep off the field or not?
