"β€œListening to understand rather than listening to debate or influence.”" I totally agree with Lukensmeyer's quote from Tim Steller's article. I even tried it. I HAD, what I thought, was a very close friend. We had been friends for over 10 years. We traveled together. She voted for President Obama. But, she told me long before the election that she was supporting Trump. At that time, I did try to influence, in a way, but also wanted to know why. She couldn't tell me why. When she was visiting me this past February, I wanted to know why she voted for him. Once again she couldn't tell me. I want to listen and I REALLY want to know. Unfortunately, she "broke" up with me via a text. It broke my heart. Based on my experience with other friends, no one can really tell me why they voted for Trump. However, they all feel strongly about him, just don't know why.
