PHOENIX β A 93-year-old Arizona woman who was set to go on trial this year for the shooting death of her son has died.
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office filed a motion earlier this month to dismiss the murder case against Anna Mae Blessing.
It wasn't immediately clear Monday when she died but the motion was filed Jan. 10.
According to court documents, she had been in hospice care after experiencing a stroke in November.
Blessing was slated to go on trial in March on murder and other charges in the July 2018 shooting.
Authorities say the Fountain Hills woman was upset about her 72-year-old son Thomas Blessing's plans to put her into an assisted living facility.
After the shooting, investigators say the victim's girlfriend managed to take away two guns from Anna Blessing.
