SURPRISE β A Surprise man is accused of critically injuring his girlfriend's stepfather by intentionally hitting him with his car after an argument.
Chet Becker Jr., 19, has been booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault and leaving the scene of a collision involving serious bodily injury, authorities say.
At his initial court appearance Tuesday, Becker's bond was set at $250,000.
He doesn't have a lawyer yet.
Court records show the incident occurred Monday night in a store parking lot after the victim argued with Becker about how his stepdaughter was being treated.
When the man walked in front of Becker's car, he allegedly accelerated and struck him.
The man is hospitalized in critical condition and is in a medically-induced coma, authorities say.
His name hasn't been released by authorities yet.
