MEXICO CITY β€” Police and soldiers have detained the chief operator for the Sinaloa drug cartel in Nogales, Sonora, Mexican prosecutors say.

Josue Ivan Torres Gonzalez, known in Mexico as β€œEl Chango,” of the monkey, smuggled heroin, meth, cocaine and immigrants to the United States through Nogales.

Torres Gonzalez and two alleged associates were arrested in a series of raids carried out by police and soldiers in the Sonoran city, officials said Monday.

While weapons were seized in the raids, the men were arrested without any shots being fired.

Torres Gonzalez had been "a cause of violence" in the area and had been the target of operations by U.S. law enforcement as well, Mexico’s security cabinet said.
