The battleship USS Arizona belched smoke as it sank on Dec. 7, 1941.

Two survivors of the attack on the USS Arizona will be in Tucson on Sunday to commemorate the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor.

Lauren Bruner and Clare Hetrick were serving as sailors on the USS Arizona when bombs sank the ship. Both men will participate in a ceremony at the University of Arizona student union Sunday morning. The ceremony will conclude with the ringing of the bell from the USS Arizona, which hangs in the student union.

Bruner, 95, is the oldest living survivor of the attack on the battleship, organizers said. Hetrick is 92.

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers encourage donations to a USS Arizona memorial planned for the UA mall.

The event was organized by the UA Veterans Alumni Club, the V.E.T.S. Center, UA ROTC, the USS Arizona Mall Memorial Project, and the USS Arizona Reunion Association Team.
