A fire about 15 miles southeast of Benson is contained and people were allowed to return home, officials said late Tuesday.

One vacant structure was destroyed in the Slavin Fire and no injuries were reported, said Carol Capas, a Cochise County Sheriff's spokeswoman, on May 30.

The reception center at St. David High School for evacuees of the Fire is being closed, Capas said. The blaze was reported at about 3:30 p.m. and it burned 150 acres.

The fire is east of Arizona 80 with initial maps showing the blaze east of South Dragoon Ranch Road. The fire is burning in brush and grass.

Lightning strikes from storms moving through the area have started several other fires.

One grass fire on Davis Road near milepost 6 has been contained to about three acres, according to Cochise County Sheriff's authorities. Resources from the Slavin Fire were being diverted to the Davis Road area.

Another lightning strike started a grass fire in the Whetstone Mountains near Sands Ranch, near milepost 307 off Arizona 90. About 10 acres has burned with wind gusts, Capas said. Crews were heading to the fire to assess the situation.
