Tucson flirting with 90 degrees before weekend storm moves in

Spring will make an early but brief visit Thursday and Friday, with predicted record high temperatures and a slim chance of hitting 90 degrees.

Meteorologist Gary Zell of the National Weather Service in Tucson, said the predicted highs of 86 Thursday and 88 Friday would both set records for their dates.

They will be followed by a winter storm that could bring rain Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures dropping 25 degrees or so.

The predicted highs of 63 Sunday and Monday would be 5 degrees below normal.

Tucson usually doesn’t hit 90 until April 19. The earliest 90-degree reading was recorded Feb. 14, 1957.
