More than 1,000 Southern Arizona high school students are getting a glimpse into the construction industry this week, operating heavy machinery, experimenting with electrical wiring and learning what it takes to land a job in the field.

The Southern Arizona Construction Career Days event is hosting students at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds Thursday and Friday.

In addition to learning about qualifications and earning potential, students had the opportunity to speak with vendors and to experience the latest technology in engineering, welding, grader and truck simulators.

This is the second year the event has been held.Β
