It seems like every election the winner declares a mandate for their ideas while the pundits write the obituary for the losing party, and yet the parties regularly seem to change places in the next election. I don’t see a large movement to ideas espoused by Trump but instead the election turned again on the votes of those without strong party affiliations who usually vote on the economy. While the economists and the Biden administration were successful in avoiding a strong recession after the big hit from the covid pandemic, their strong spending did create a hardship on folks living paycheck to paycheck through the increase in inflation. These folks voted against the Biden administration, and Harris, because they felt ignored in their suffering and that something more could have been done to ameliorate it. So, I suggest that many letter writers chill out a bit about what happened and might happen, find a new hobby, and watch while this process plays out again over the next four years.
