The Muscular Dystrophy Association has sold its former national headquarters building in Tucson for $9.1 million.

Larsen Baker LLC finalized the purchase of the 82,842-square-foot building, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Friday.

Andy Seleznov, director of leasing for Larsen Baker, said MDA will lease a portion of the building and he anticipates getting an additional four tenants.

“There’s just no building like it in Tucson,” he said. “The location, the finishes, the interior. There’s nothing close to this level of luxury in Tucson.”

Because it was used by a single tenant, Larsen Baker will retrofit the interior to separate the spaces once tenants decide how much space they want to lease, Seleznov said.

He expects much interest when people get a look at the complex, which will be renamed The Offices at La Paloma.

The building’s entryway, landscaping and signage will also be upgraded.

“It’s been used strictly for the MDA and doesn’t have that much presence off Sunrise Drive,” Seleznov said. “A lot of people just don’t know the building.”

MDA announced in September that it would be moving and selling the building which it had called home for 22 years. The national office moved to Chicago.

MDA was represented in the sale by Richard Kleiner and Eric Sorensen of Picor. Larsen Baker was represented by itself and Chapman Lindsey Commercial Real Estate.

MDA officials did not disclose their original asking price for the building, saying at the time they put it up for sale only that it should bring in “millions and millions.”
