Members of five Rotary Clubs from Marana, Oro Valley and SaddleBrooke worked Saturday to plant 100 trees at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Marana.

It took about 90 volunteers less than two hours to plant the trees at the cemetery. One tree was planted for each member of the clubs.

The desert-adapted trees are low-water users and will eventually provide shade at and beautify the memorial site.

The project included Trees for Tucson, the urban forestry program of Tucson Clean & Beautiful along with members of the University of Arizona service fraternity FIJI, cemetery administrators and Stacey Fox, Rotary assistant governor for Region 6.
