Especially the Frida Kahlo exhibit while it’s in town through May, 2017. Let them have the run of the place, explore the plants and paths and hidden spots.
Amazing women athletes
Go see a University of Arizona women’s sport. There’s something going on almost every month of the year and it’s a chance to see amazing women athletes in action.
Depending on the time of year and your girl's interest and age — try women's basketball, volleyball, softball or soccer.
Tucson Village Farm
This UA program offers classes and camps for kids to learn how to grow, pick and prepare food. Or check out their u-pick nights during the growing season where you can harvest your own veggies.
Tucson Festival of Books — Science City
Science City is a huge opportunity try all kinds of hands-on science and meet great women role models. Try to take two days, it takes that long to see it all.
Flandrau Planetarium
You can explore astronomy and the stars and check out the museum’s cool exhibits. Flandrau also hosts cool science-themed birthday parties.
Sleep-away camp
Let your girl try out her independence at a residential camp. Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona hosts several on Mt. Lemmon and you don't have to be a Girl Scout to attend. Check them out here.
Play in the water at Sabino Canyon
This is a friendly hike that includes water play many months of the year. Your girl will love jumping from rock to rock and wading in the shallow water.
Valley of the Moon
This enchanting storybook land is a Tucson hidden gem. Your girl will love it because she doesn't have to sit still. Follow her down the windy paths of the property and stop to watch actors perform, listen to a story or come for a performance.
Do a run or ride
Try the one-mile FitKidz and Family Fitness Fun Run/Walk in Marana with your active girl. Everyone gets a free eegee. This run is in March but check out the Southern Arizona Roadrunners for lots of races and runs to try.
Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
Touch a snake, see a javelina, pet a manta ray and just generally get dirty and hot in the desert.
