Arizona is digging into America's Finest City for talent in its 2018 recruiting class.
Sunday, the Wildcats received a verbal commitment from running back Martell Irby, the second straight player to pledge to Arizona from San Diego after athlete Thomas Marcus announced on Friday.
In a twitter message, Irby wrote "After much thought and prayer, I have decided to commit to...the University of Arizona."

Irby — rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com — is a 5-foot-8, 204 pound tailback from San Diego's Morse High School who picked the Wildcats over offers from 18 other schools, though Arizona is the only school to offer from a Power Five conference.
Irby is the 14th player to commit to Arizona's 2018 class and its eighth on offense, and also the fourth straight player to commit to the UA from that side of the ball, joining Marcus, tight end Jake Peters and wide receiver Tre Adams. He's also the second running back in the class, as Houston-area back Darrius Smith committed back in June.
The Wildcats are looking to pad the depth chart at the running back position as Nick Wilson and Zach Green are both currently seniors.
