Jessie Harper hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth inning Sunday night as the No. 13-ranked Arizona softball team picked up a series win with a 4-2 win over No. 8 Arizona State in Tempe.

Taylor McQuillin (20-9) earned the win, striking out 11 and allowing six hits in going the distance. She gave up a solo homer to Marisa Stankiewicz in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 2, but then battled out of trouble after the next hitter, Taylor Becerra, doubled to put a runner on second with no outs.

McQuillin retired three straight hitters to get the Wildcats to extra innings.

Alyssa Palomino had given UA a 2-1 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning. Palomino and Reyna Carranco each finished with two hits in the win.

Arizona (31-13, 8-10 Pac-12) had been 0-7 on the road in Pac-12 games before beating the Sun Devils on Saturday and Sunday.

Giselle Juarez (19-3) took the loss for the Sun Devils (35-9, 9-6).

The UA hosts New Mexico for a game at 6 p.m. Wednesday, then hosts Oregon State for three games starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
