When the national-championship game starts Thursday, Bobby Dalbec is expected to startΒ for the Wildcats.Β
The junior right-hander has been stellar on the mound during the College World Series, allowing only two earned runs in 15 innings. He will be starting on three daysβ rest after throwing 102 pitches in Arizonaβs bracket-clinching 5-1 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Dalbec is 11-5 this season with a 2.65 ERA and a team-high seven saves.Β
Coastal Carolina was scheduled to startΒ junior right-hander Alex Cunningham β not fellow junior Andrew Beckwith, as many expected. It's unknown whether Beckwith would be available Thursday Β
Cunningham also started Saturday, against TCU, allowing four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. He threw 88 pitches.
For the season, Cunningham is 10-4 with a 3.64 ERA. He has allowed 114 hits in 116 1/3 innings, striking out 97.
