Scott Kingery signed a six-year, $24 million contract in Philadelphia after a hot spring.

With the MLB regular season on the cusp of starting, every team is putting together its final roster for Opening Day. The Philadelphia Phillies added a prospect to its roster Sunday in infielder Scott Kingery, a former Arizona Wildcat.

On Sunday, the Phillies inked their 2015 second-round draft pick to a six-year deal that runs through 2023, with $24 million guaranteed,Β which would be the most guaranteed money for a player that hasn't debuted in a MLB game since Jon Singleton's multi-year contract with the Houston Astros in 2014.

Kingery's contract does have three club options for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons, and if he remains with the Phillies through that span, he could rake in $66 million.

Per Phillies beat writer Matt Gelb from the Athletic, Kingery will have a $1.5 million signing bonus and could make $13 million in 2024, $14 million in 2025 and $15 million in 2026 along with a $1 million buyout.Β

In 2017, the 23-year-old Phoenix native switched between the Phillies' Triple-A and Double-A affiliates, Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Reading Fightin Phils, and recorded a .304 batting average with 26 home runs and 29 stolen bases.

During this year's spring training, he batted .392 with four home runs and seven RBIs.

Kingery will be a part of the 25-player roster for Philadelphia on Opening Day and could be used as either a second or third baseman, which are positions he's played since drafted.

The Phillies will start their season on the road in Atlanta on Thursday. Opening pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. Tucson time.Β Β
