Arizona Wildcats head coach Sean Miller gives Arizona Wildcats forward Deandre Ayton (13) a defensive critique in a game against UCLA earlier this month.

ESPN twice corrected its story saying its report of a Sean Miller-Christian Dawkins phone call happened in 2016, not 2017.

ESPN reported Friday night that Miller discussed a $100,000 payment to Deandre Ayton and on a talkback show, said it happened in 2017. Ayton committed to Arizona in September 2016.

ESPN's first correction said the phone call happened in the spring of 2016 and the current correction says sometime in 2016.

Either way, Miller is likely being evaluated on if he discussed a payment, made a payment and knew of the activities that led to assistant coach Book Richardson's arrest and subsequent firing.

If Miller had made the alleged discussion in 2017, that might have suggested he was trying to keep Ayton from turning pro overseas.

Miller said in October that he has long fostered an atmosphere of compliance at Arizona.

The Republic says Miller actually wouldn't get more money if he is fired for cause.

Stan Van Gundy, known to be a friend of Miller's, ripped the NCAA and said it's "all coming down on the coaches."

Meanwhile, UA dropped from 14 to 19 in the AP Top 25 poll.
