Kyle Fogg is already becoming a legend in The Basketball Tournament's short history.
After being named MVP of the winner-take-all event for the second straight summer, leading Overseas Elite to a βthree-peatβ with a win over Team Challenge ALS on Thursday, the former Arizona guard might also now be among the top-earning basketball players who arenβt in the NBA.
Fogg picked up another $147,000 Thursday from his share of the winner-take-all event with a $2 million top prize. Overseas Elite has now totaled $5 million for its three straight titles (the 2015 tournament prize was only $1 million before being doubled last year).
Fogg earned his second straight MVP with clutch play in both the semifinals and finals, much like he did last year. On Thursday, he scored 18 points over 10 minutes in the first half, and in the second half he sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
βBeing in so many finals in this tournament, playing against so many great teams, gave us the battle test we needed tonight,β Fogg told ESPN in his postgame interview.
Foggβs box score line was eye-opening: He was 8 for 15 from the field, hit 4 of 8 3-pointers and was 9 of 10 at the free-throw line.
Here's video of Fogg's effortsΒ via Twitter.
Meanwhile, Foggβs full-time career has been even more successful. He lead leagues in Finland (2013-14) and Germany (2015-16) in scoring, then helped Malaga win a Eurocup title last season.
God is good! This year, Eurocup chip and now @thetournament chip. I'm telling you, if you work for others and give, he will reward you! ππΎππΎ

Then, in June, Fogg agreed to a two-year deal worth about $2 million to play in China starting next season.
Fogg has used some of his earnings to help build schools in areas of need around the world via Pencils for Promise. He said during Thursdayβs ESPN interview that he and some other Overseas Elite players would donate to ALS causes since the team they defeated in the final, Team Challenge ALS, had pledged $250,000 if they won the tournament.
