Arizona basketball coach Sean Miller says he is not a candidate for the job at Pitt, hours after a Pittsburgh news report linked him to the vacancy.

β€œI am not a candidate for the University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball head coaching vacancy," Miller said in a statement released at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. "I wish them well in their search for a new coach.”

AΒ Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story story said Wednesday that Miller had discussed the job with AD Heather Lyke, citing multiple unnamed sources familiar with the situation.

According to reports, Pitt has offered Rhode Island coach Dan Hurley about $3 million annually to take the job while also interviewing Thad Matta (who was once Miller's boss at Xavier) and Tom Crean. Crean has since taken the job at Georgia.Β 

Miller, a former standout point guard at Pitt, said two years ago that he had no interest in the job. Pitt hired Kevin Stallings at that point and has fired him after two seasons in which he went 5-34 against ACC teams, and the divorce is getting messy.

Calling his UA career an "incredible journey," Dusan Ristic posted a note of thanks.
