Those of us who were listening to Sean Miller's complaints Saturday at Boulder missed some comments from Colorado coach Tad Boyle that are still making noise.
When asked if beating Arizona meant more because of what the Wildcats went through in the offseason (namely that federal complaint), Boyle went on to complement Arizona coach Sean Miller and USC coach Andy Enfield, but said "to answer your question, hell yes."
His answer is detailed here in this SI.com post.
On Wednesday, Enfield called a needless timeout late in USC's win over Colorado that appeared to be his response. On Tuesday, Enfield read a prepared statement to reporters about Boyle's comments.
โWe are disappointed in Tad Boyleโs comments and what they imply,โ Enfield said Tuesday. โNot only is it unfair for someone to comment who doesnโt have all the facts, but those comments are unfair to those of us involved in the USC menโs basketball program, most importantly to our student-athletes and their families. Theyโre outstanding young men who chose USC to receive a world-class education and compete for championships.โ
Boyle's remark wasn't really a surprise if you consider how strong his comments were when the FBI investigation became public, and his remarks at Pac-12 media day, when he said he stops recruiting players when he senses they or their handlers are looking for money.
