University of Arizona vs Colorado

Colorado head coach Tad Boyle argues his case to one of the game officials early in the first half of their game against Arizona at the Coors Event Center, Saturday, January 6, 2018, Boulder, Colo.

Those of us who were listening to Sean Miller's complaints Saturday at Boulder missed some comments from Colorado coach Tad Boyle that are still making noise.

When asked if beating Arizona meant more because of what the Wildcats went through in the offseason (namely that federal complaint), Boyle went on to complement Arizona coach Sean Miller and USC coach Andy Enfield, but said "to answer your question, hell yes."

His answer is detailed here in this SI.com post.

On Wednesday, Enfield called a needless timeout late in USC's win over Colorado that appeared to be his response. On Tuesday, Enfield read a prepared statement to reporters about Boyle's comments.

โ€œWe are disappointed in Tad Boyleโ€™s comments and what they imply,โ€ Enfield said Tuesday. โ€œNot only is it unfair for someone to comment who doesnโ€™t have all the facts, but those comments are unfair to those of us involved in the USC menโ€™s basketball program, most importantly to our student-athletes and their families. Theyโ€™re outstanding young men who chose USC to receive a world-class education and compete for championships.โ€

Boyle's remark wasn't really a surprise if you consider how strong his comments were when the FBI investigation became public, and his remarks at Pac-12 media day, when he said he stops recruiting players when he senses they or their handlers are looking for money.

Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier advanced to the Wooden Award's midseason Top 25, though Rawle Alkins dropped off after being named to the Wooden Top 50 watch list entering the season.

ASU's Tra Holder, who was not on the 50-man watch list, was added to the midseason Top 25.

Oregon State's Alfred Hollins, a high school teammate of Deandre Ayton, says he's undefeated against the Wildcats' freshman 7-footer -- in NBA 2K that is.

Tres Tinkle and Stephen Thompson Jr. have been workhorses for the Beavers this season, and JaQuori McLaughlin's departure last month has put pressure on everyone.

Defense has powered the Beavers' 2-1 start in the Pac-12.
