Former Salpointe standout Talbott Denny tweeted this afternoon that he will finish his college career at home, as a grad transfer for the Arizona Wildcats.

Denny played three seasons for Lipscomb then sat out last season with a torn labrum. He is graduating with an engineering degree and was looking to jump into a graduate program somewhere else next season. Denver, Portland State and Santa Clara were among those expressing interest.

"He loves his hometown and it’s a cool story," said Salpointe coach Brian Holstrom. "He's a hard worker, a bulldog, a tough kid who will bring physicality."

Tucson Power coach David Thomas, who coached Denny with the Tucson Heat program, said Denny's toughness may have rubbed off on Kansas-bound former Arizona Power forward Mitch Lightfoot during their practices together.

"I'd like to think Talbott helped Mitch be as tough as he is," Thomas said. "When I would do the pad for some of our drills, I'd have bruises on my chest because he'd go through it.

"He's going to go to Arizona and be a more of a role model to the younger guys with his work ethic. He'll be a great practice guy. The way T.J. (McConnell) brings it in practice is the way he is."

The addition of Denny gives Arizona 11 expected scholarship players for next season.

Arizona also added walk-on Jake DesJardins, a move that is discussed along with some notes and links in the previous blog post.
