KJ Lewis starred at El Paso’s Chapin High School last season, but he grew up on Tucson’s east side and now plays for a Dallas-area school.

UA commit KJ Lewis arrived in Tucson on Thursday night in advance of his official visit this weekend.

Lewis, a four-star guard from the Dallas area with roots in Tucson and El Paso, committed to the Wildcats in March. His visit will allow him to take in Friday's Red-Blue Game, likely along with 2024 forward Carter Bryant, 2024 guard Zoom Diallo and other targets.

Bryant told On3.com he would take an unofficial visit to Tucson, while Diallo and Lewis have been expected to take official (paid) visits. It is possible Gilbert Perry standouts Cody Williams and Koa Peat will visit UA, if not this weekend then sometime soon.

Major health issues are sidelining two Pac-12 players indefinitely: WSU guard Myles Rice was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, while five-star USC freshman big man Vincent Iwuchukwu confirmed to CBS that he's been out since suffering cardiac arrest in July.

Rice redshirted last season in part because of a back issue but was expected to play a key role in the Cougars' backcourt this season.
