Jaden McDaniels

Jaden McDaniels

In Las Vegas last July, I asked Seattle-area forward Jaden McDaniels about his recruitment and the attention he's getting from Arizona and other schools.

The highest-rated West Coast player in the class of 2019 responded: "My dad does it so I don’t even pay attention to it."

But after keeping his recruitment close to the family vest, McDaniels posted a top 5 list Monday night that did not include Arizona. Instead, he had Washington, San Diego State, UCLA, Texas and Kentucky.

His older brother, Jalen, plays for San Diego State, while resurgent Washington is a hometown option and he told the Lexington Herald-Leader that Kentucky was once his dream school because John Wall played there.

Arizona is still involved with a number of highly rated 2019 players, including Australian guard Josh Green, Kansas City-area forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, San Diego guard Boogie Ellis and Scottsdale Bella Vista guard Terry Armstrong.

The Wildcats already have commitments from five-star guard Nico Mannion and three-star center Christian Koloko.

Nick Johnson appeared grateful after signing a training-camp deal with the Spurs.
