The first transfer portal departure for the Arizona Wildcats this season is a Tucson native.

Arizona redshirt sophomore running back and former Canyon del Oro High School star Stevie Rocker announced on Monday that he will leave the UA after three seasons and enter the transfer portal once it opens next Monday.

Rocker will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-0, 215-pound Rocker signed with Arizona in December of 2021 during the early signing period between the dismissal of former head coach Kevin Sumlin and current leader Jedd Fisch.

As a true freshman in 2021, Rocker appeared in 11 games and had 31 carries for 153 yards and had 59 receiving yards. In the last two seasons, Rocker fell behind Michael Wiley, Jonah Coleman, DJ Williams and Rayshon Luke on the depth chart. Although the Wildcats are losing Wiley and Williams to graduation, they currently have freshman Brandon Johnson and commitments from Phoenix-area running back Adam Mohammed and four-star Los Angeles-area native Jordan Washington for 2024.

Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch says the Wildcats are "a very close-knit team with the coaches and players alike," which has been essential in the program's ascension. Video by Justin Spears / Arizona Daily Star
