Monday was supposed to be the dayΒ Braxton BurmeisterΒ moved onto the Arizona campus as an early enrollee.
It's Monday, and Burmeister now is deciding if he wants to enroll at Arizona or Oregon. Arizona's classes begin on Wednesday, so in theory that should be the latest Burmeister could decide if he's going to enroll early.Β
So what happened?
Here's a quick rundown of the whole situation with Burmeister, a four-star recruit who's been committed to Arizona since May.Β
- On Jan. 3 (Tuesday) Akili Smith tweeted that Burmeister received an offer from the Oregon Ducks. Smith is an Oregon alum, former NFL quarterback and one of Burmeister's personal trainers.
- Also that day, UA commit Nathan Tilford, another four-star and early enrollee, told the Star that he had been communicating with Burmeister about being roommates and Tilford would be moving in on Sunday, Burmeister on Monday.
- Over the next couple of days, all indications were that the staff was still expecting Burmeister to enroll at Arizona.
- Saturday afternoon, Burmeister's parents told the Star that he was moving onto campus this week. Arizona's staff still was under the assumption that Burmeister would be joining them. Messages to Burmeister were not returned.
- Saturday night, a source close to the family indicated to the Star that Burmeister was telling people he'd planned to enroll at Oregon. This is also when Oregonian reporter Andrew Nemec reported that Burmeister was going to enroll "at either place...sometime next week." (Meaning Arizona or Oregon).
- Sunday, multiple messages to Burmeister's parents were not returned. By nighttime, Scout.com's Greg Biggins reported that a decision would likely come on Sunday night and that it would likely be Oregon. Sources told the Star that Burmeister had planned to announce at 9 p.m. (Arizona time, 8 p.m. in California).
- By 9:30 p.m., still without any announcement or indication from Burmeister, sources indicated that Burmeister's decision was "not as clear as previously thought."
