It may be the dog days of summer, but Jaiden Dockery is already thinking about Fridays in the fall.

"To tell the truth," he tweeted this week, "I'm just ready for football season."

Dockery, a 6-foot safety from Lancaster, Texas, verbally committed to the Wildcats' 2018 recruiting class on Tuesday. That's good news for Arizona's coaching staff, which has been on the looking for "OKGs" β€” "our kinda guys" β€” throughout a long summer. (That Dockery is thinking about football on July 4 should also score him big points inside the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility.)Β

Arizona was the first major program to offer Dockery, who also plays quarterback and wide receiver. (Watch Dockery's high school highlights here).

The Scout.com recruiting service has yet to rate Dockery, who was also considering Memphis and Illinois State. Dockery is the eighth player and second safety to commit to the Wildcats for 2018. He is the second Texas high-schooler to commit to the UA in a week. Pearland running back Darrius Smith verballed on June 30.
