Before leaving last week to move to Cal, Charlie Ragle was Arizona’s special teams coach, but his true value was as a recruiter.

Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez has lost another member of his coaching staff.

Special teams coach Charlie Ragle will leave the UA for California, accepting the same job on new coach Justin Wilcox's staff, the Star has confirmed. The news was first reported by FootballScoop.com.

Ragle's departure comes on the heels of receivers coach Tony Dews bolting for a job at West Virginia a few days ago. Just three assistants from Arizona's 2014 Fiesta Bowl staff remain: co-offensive coordinators Rod Smith and Calvin Magee and offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.

The latest departure leaves Rodriguez searching for two new assistant coaches with spring drills scheduled to start on Feb. 18.

Ragle was hired in 2012 as an assistant director of operations following a stellar tenure as the coach at Scottsdale's Chaparral High School. He was promoted to be Arizona's special teams and tight ends coach the following season and was Rodriguez's lead recruiter in-state due to his connections in the Phoenix-area.

Ragle led the charge in Arizona's 2017 recruiting class for highly-regarded defensive ends Jalen Harris of Mesa Desert Ridge and My-King Johnson of Tempe.
