Will Nick Wilson, right, join Brandon Dawkins in the Arizona backfield Saturday? Wilson (ankle) is questionable to play vs. UCLA.

Arizona Wildcats tailback Nick Wilson is questionable for Saturday’s game against UCLA because of an ankle injury.

This is the second week in a row that Wilson has been listed as questionable. He sat out against Washington last Saturday after getting hurt in the first quarter the previous week against Hawaii.

The situation at running back became somewhat dire when Wilson’s replacement, freshman J.J. Taylor, suffered a broken ankle against UW that will sideline him indefinitely. Arizona has given receiver Samajie Grant some reps at tailback this week to provide reinforcements. Zach Green and Tyrell Johnson likely will comprise the top pairing if Wilson can’t play.

In something of a surprising development, quarterback Anu Solomon (knee) is listed as out. Solomon had been questionable each of the past three weeks.

Solomon did not suffer a setback in his recovery from the knee injury he suffered Sept. 7. But with a limited travel roster for a conference road game – and Solomon net yet fully practicing – Arizona decided to declare him out. Brandon Dawkins will make his fourth straight start.

Several other players who were out or got hurt last week won’t play against UCLA. They include linebacker DeAndre’ Miller (ankle), nose tackle Parker Zellers (knee) and receiver Shawn Poindexter (foot).

Safety Tellas Jones (ankle) is listed as probable for the second week in a row. He dressed and warmed up against Washington but did not play.
