Arizona Wildcats get verbal commitment from DL Austin Faoliu

The Arizona Wildcats are headed to Southern California this weekend, but they earned a victory there before boarding the team plane.

The UA secured a verbal commitment from defensive lineman Austin Faoliu of Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, California. Faoliu is the Wildcats’ 27th commitment for the class of 2017 and fourth interior defensive lineman – a major area of need.

Scout ranks Faoliu as a two-star prospect as an offensive guard and lists him at 6-3, 265 pounds. Rivals also gives him two stars as a defensive tackle and lists him at 6-4, 295.

Faoliu tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon. In the preamble to his commitment, he wrote the following:

“I want to start off by thanking God for all the opportunities he has blessed me with, because I couldn’t have done it without him giving me the strength and motivation to stay dedicated. I also want to thank all the coaches that believed in me to get the job done on (their) team; it means a lot. Last but not least, all this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for my family and friends supporting me through my journey.”
