Arizona has hired Brian Johnson as its director of strength and conditioning for football.
The university did not make a formal announcement, but Johnson is listed in the staff directory.
Johnson worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach last year at Texas A&M under new Wildcats coach Kevin Sumlin. Johnsonβs official title was sports performance coach for football.
Before that, Johnson served in a similar capacity for the San Francisco 49ers and at LSU, his alma mater. Johnson played offensive line for the Tigers and was a member of LSUβs 2003 national-championship team.
Johnson also has worked in the strength-and-conditioning programs at Akron and Florida State. He played briefly in the NFL.
Itβs unclear what the future holds for the UA football programβs previous strength coaches, Chris Allen and Parker Whiteman.
