Arizona's 2020 recruiting class was trimmed by one player Monday night after three-star cornerback Alphonse Oywak decommitted from the Wildcats and flipped to Washington State and first-year head coach Nick Rolovich.

The Washington based Oywak announced his decision via Twitter.Β

The three-star Oywak is a 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound cornerback from Kentwood, Washington and committed to the UA in July when the Wildcats became his first Power 5 offer. Oywak is rated as the 48th-best cornerback, per 247sports.com, and was the highest-ranked prospect in Arizona's 2020 recruiting class.

Oywak's decommitment dropped the Wildcats' 2020 class to last place in the Pac-12 on 247sports.com

Former UA linebackers coach John Rushing was Oywak's primary recruiter, but after he was fired midseason, defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin took over Oywak's recruitment.Β

Washington State offered Oywak on Jan. 19 and then hosted the Arizona commit for an official visit this past weekend leading up to his commitment.Β

Arizona has 18 players for the 2020 recruiting class, including 12 that have already signed their national letters-of-intent. With Oywak's decommitment, Arizona the only defensive back signed for 2020 is three-star Los Angeles-area cornerback Khary Crump Jr. Graduate transfer wide receiver Brenden Schooler is also open to playing defensive back for the UA in 2020.Β

National Signing Day is on Wednesday.Β
