Former Arizona Wildcat and Canyon del Oro High School star running back Stevie Rocker is transferring to Montana, he announced on X (Twitter) Monday morning.
Rocker will have two years of eligibility at Montana State, which recently lost in the FCS national championship to South Dakota State. The Grizzlies are coached by sixth-year head coach Bobby Hauck.
The 6-0, 215-pound Rocker signed with Arizona in December of 2021 during the early signing period between the dismissal of former head coach Kevin Sumlin and current leader Jedd Fisch.
As a true freshman in 2021, Rocker appeared in 11 games and had 31 carries for 153 yards and had 59 receiving yards. In the last two seasons, Rocker fell behind Michael Wiley, Jonah Coleman, DJ Williams and Rayshon Luke on the depth chart. Although the Wildcats are losing Wiley and Williams to graduation and Coleman, who announced that he's entering the transfer portal on Sunday, the UA currently has freshman Brandon Johnson and Phoenix-area running back Adam Mohammed and four-star Los Angeles-area native Jordan Washington for 2024.
Montana opens the season against Missouri State on Aug. 31. The Grizzlies host the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Oct. 12.
