Alyssa Denham shut down No. 8 Arizona State on Saturday to help the No. 13 University of Arizona softball team end a pair of losing streaks.

The Wildcats won 4-1 to snap an overall seven-game Pac-12 losing streak in picking up their first league road win of the season after starting 0-7.

Denham (7-3) allowed two hits in going the distance. She struck out two and walked four.

Carli Campbell gave UA (30-13, 7-10) a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an infield single that scored Aleah Craighton. Reyna Carranco had a two-run double later in the inning to make it 3-0.

Morgan Howe gave ASU its only run, cutting the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer. Breanna Macha (10-5) took the loss for the Sun Devils (35-8, 9-5), allowing eight hits in seven innings.

Craighton then scored on an error in the fifth inning for the game’s final run. Campbell and Carranco each had two hits for the Wildcats, who lost the opener in Tempe 2-1 on Friday night.

The teams wrap up their three-game series at 5 p.m. Sunday on Pac-12 Arizona.
