Arizona guard Bennedict Mathurin slams home a fast-break dunk as teammate guard Dalen Terry watches during the Wildcats’ March 3 win over Stanford.

Arizona's Bennedict Mathurin was named to Wooden Award's 10-player all-America team Wednesday, though he was not among the five finalists for the national player of the year award.

The five Wooden Award finalists are Ochai Agbaji of Kansas, Johnny Davis of Wisconsin, Keegan Murray of Iowa, Oscar Tshiebwe of Kentucky and Drew Timme of Gonzaga.

The second five, or rest of the Wooden all-American team, included Mathurin, Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Jabari Smith (Auburn), Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga) and Jaden Ivey (Purdue)

Arizona's leading scorer (17.4 points) during its 33-4 season, Mathurin has already been named a consensus second-team all-America player.Β

He also qualified for Arizona's Ring of Honor by being named the Pac-12 Player of the Year.

Liam Lloyd, the son of UA coach Tommy Lloyd, announced he will transfer from GCU to NAU next season.

That means Liam's first-regular season game will be at McKale Center against his dad's team. The Wildcats and Lumberjacks are scheduled to meet on Nov. 8 at McKale Center, as part of a longterm deal that has had Arizona opening nearly every season with NAU.
