Dick King, the first basketball coach in Rincon High School history, a man who coached the Rangers to the 1965 state championship, died Tuesday in Tucson. He was 90.

King, who grew up in Indiana and served in the Navy, in the Pacific theater in World War II, graduated from Western New Mexico University in Silver City in 1950. He began teaching and coaching at Tucson High in 1952.

King was inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
