Arizona will hold two Red-Blue Showcase intrasquad scrimmages for the first time this season, scheduling one at McKale Center for Oct. 4 and a second event for Oct. 11 at Glendale’s Desert Diamond Arena.

The doubling up of Arizona’s annual preseason men’s basketball celebration takes advantage of a new NCAA rule allowing teams to play up to two preseason intrasquad scrimmages off campus within 400 miles of campus.

Former Wildcat and NBA players Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye will return to host the McKale Center event for the second straight season, while Frye and NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins will host the Glendale event.

Both scrimmages will be carried on ESPN Plus, with the Oct. 4 event at McKale starting at 6 p.m. and the Oct. 11 event in Glendale starting at 6:30 p.m. Former Wildcat standout Gilbert Arenas is also scheduled to hold a post-event party at the MSA Annex Festival Grounds; more information is available at arizonapostmove.com.

Tickets for both Red-Blue Showcases will go on sale Thursday at 10:00 a.m. via arizoanwildcats.com for the Oct. 4 event at McKale and at desertdiamondarena.com for Oct. 11 in Glendale.
