Arizona Wildcats guard Salimatou Kourouma (24) and Arizona Wildcats guard Helena Pueyo (13) defend Utah Utes forward Dasia Young (34) in the second half during a game at McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz. on January 7, 2024. Arizona won in overtime 71-70.

The Arizona women's basketball team also was delayed coming home this week after an ice storm hit Eugene, Oregon.

Sunday's game between Arizona and Oregon, which the Ducks won 70-68, was closed to fans out of an abundance of caution, with only family and friends of players allowed to attend.

The Wildcats didn't fly home until late Monday afternoon after it is believed that they took a bus to Portland. This delay sets back preparation for next weekend's slate of games at the Washington schools.

Instead of the players having their typical designated day off on Monday, it's now Tuesday. With Arizona flying back up to the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, giving the Wildcats less time to practice ahead of Friday night's game at Washington.Β

The UA men's team was delayed itself coming back this weekend from Washington State. It wasn't because of weather, however, but rather issues with the Wildcats' charter flight home.
