Arizona womenโs basketball player Sali Kourouma has entered the transfer portal, the Star learned Friday afternoon.
Kourouma, who is from Mali, spent one year as a Wildcat, with most of it on the IR. She dislocated her shoulder in the second exhibition game โ it was popped back into place on the court by the trainer, Bart Jameson.
She played in 11 nonconference games, plus the first ASU matchup, before re-injuring her shoulder in practice before the Seattle game on Dec. 31. After that, the shoulder kept slipping in and out, causing her pain. She returned to the court for one more game, against No.15 Utah and basically played with one arm, helping the Wildcats to a 71-70 overtime victory. She played 19 minutes, scored seven points and picked one steal.
That was the last time she saw the court as a Wildcat, as she had surgery on Thursday, Jan. 11 for a tear on her left labrum.
Kourouma, a senior wing, has one more year of eligibility left. She averaged 9.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13 games. She transferred to UA from Arkansas-Little Rock and played at Grayson College before that.
