Danny Vega has a chance to capture his third straight state championship on Friday night while Ironwood Ridge's wrestling team can win its fourth state title in the last sixth seasons.
Vega and the Nighthawks take a 25-point lead over two-time defending champion Mesa Mountain View into the medal rounds, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Prescott Valley Event Center.
I-Ridge has five wrestlers in the finals, as does Sunnyside, which trails Mountain View by just a half of a point. Among the finalists for the Blue Devils is star sophomore Roman Bravo-Young.
