Southern Arizona high school softball, baseball teams begin state playoff run

A day after the City of Nogales lost police officer Jesus Cordova to a shooting at the scene of a carjacking, the Nogales High School baseball team dedicated their first-round playoff game Saturday to the fallen officer, his family and the entire town. Flags along the outfield of War Memorial Park were flown at half-mast.
The Apaches honored Cordova with a 5-1 win over Phoenix Greenway and host Salpointe Catholic Monday in the second round.
The Lancers reached the second round due to a walk-off single by JoJo Cornejo.
