Sometimes it's nice to feel like you're getting out of town for date night.
That feeling is what speaks to us about the First Saturdays Concert Series at Catalina State Park.
It's far enough out of town to be away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but it's close enough to not require lots of gas money, planning or leaving the kids over night with a sitter.
The concerts, as the name implies, are held on the first Saturday of the month during summer. That means there's one this Saturday, July 2.
This weekend's show starts at 7 p.m. and features Mike Moutoux, aka, "New Mexico's Enchanting Cowboy." He performs cowboy songs and poetry inspired by the lives of cowboys and ranchers.
Make a date of it by arriving a little early for a stroll and a picnic. Free popcorn will be provided by the Friends of Catalina State Park.
The concert is free with admission into the park, which is $7 per vehicle.
If you can't make it this weekend or if cowboy music isn't your thing, the August show is on the 6th and will feature Michael P. and Jen Rinio playing cover songs from Billie Holiday, Beatles, Etta James, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry and more.
Make sure to check here for any schedule changes due to severe weather.
