You put all that work into carving the perfect pumpkin. Now you can let the kids smash it.
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is hosting its first Pumpkin Smash from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Las Milpitas Farm, which is at 2405 S. Cottonwood Lane.
Pumpkin remains will be used for composting, making the event a fun way to learn about sustainable gardening practices and how they can benefit the community.
So, bring your jack-o-lantern to smash, launch or catapult for a good cause. Or just go for the festivities.
There will also be pumpkin-related recipes to sample, kids' activities, pumpkin catapult contest, music and a mini garden fair, featuring Food Conspiracy Co-op, Desert Harvesters, Tucson Village Farms, Cafe 54 Food Truck and more.
