Get ready to say "Opa!" eat delicious food and party the night away at the Tucson Greek Fest happening this weekend.
What started as a small fundraiser for Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 41 years ago has transformed into an annual celebration that attracts more than 14,000 people — now that's a lot of spanakopita.
This year's festivities kick off Thursday, Sept. 21 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 24.
Eat your way through Greece as the fest will be serving up authentic Greek food. Buy platters of chicken, gyro and lamb or go ala carte and treat yourself to dolmathes, souvlaki and sooo much more. Greek beer, wine and drinks will also be available.
And they've got entertainment galore — enjoy live music and performances from the Pan-Athenian dancers. Shop baked goods and market items till your heart is content. There's even a play area for the kiddos so the whole family can have fun.
