I wrote last week that former Palo Verde golf standoutΒ Ben KernΒ was among the top Tucson golfers never to win a state championship. That is wrong. Kern won the 2001 state title for the Titans. After serving as an assistant pro at Blanchard Golf Course (at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base), Kern has returned to pro golf. He is No. 6 on the Pepsi Tour money list, having won a Pepsi event Oct. 27 in Scottsdale.
